Privacy Policy

How are we processing the personal information you give us?

Your personal information may be used by the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) and MSC Assessment, our employees, service providers, and disclosed to third parties to carry out our contract with you and administer the Prescribing Safety Assessment. This includes passing on your personal performance data to the UK foundation schools.

Your personal data may also be used for the purposes of audit and quality assurance to inform the future development of the PSA and of other national assessments.

BPS and MSC Assessment may retain and analyse or may make your personal information from PSA attempts in your final year available to academic and other third parties for future educational research projects. Such personal information may be made available for research and statistical purposes to allow the linking of performance in the PSA to other medical education data. Your personal information will not be used to monitor or make decisions about you, or personally identify you as an individual.

Who will we share your personal information with?

We may share your personal information with the GMC as the Data Controller for the UK Medical Education Database (UKMED) and with contracted suppliers for the technical delivery of the PSA Interface.

Your personal information will not be transferred outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) unless that country or territory has an adequate level of protection for your rights and freedoms in relation to the processing of your personal information.

How long will we hold your personal information?

MSC Assessment will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary. To administer the Prescribing Safety Assessment and for quality assurance purposes your data will be retained with annual review to decide whether it should continue to be kept.

What are the rights to your personal information?

If you have any questions about how we process your personal information, or you believe the information we hold about you is incorrect then please contact the MSC Assessment using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

We are not obliged to comply with your request for erasure or fulfil your rights to your personal information in all circumstances. For example, where research requires the processing of your personal information for carrying out a task in the public interest, it may be exempt from your objections to processing. If we decide to continue using your personal information, then we will tell you why.

If you have any complaints about how we use your personal information, then please contact us. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to our privacy policy

Any changes to our privacy policy will be posted on our website https://prescribingsafetyassessment.ac.uk, and where appropriate notified to you by email.
